Darwin Day Celebration:
The Cultural Impact of Darwin
By Tony Hileman, Executive Director of the American Humanist Association
How The Creationist Mind Set could Influence Bioscience Research
By Dr. Christine Miller, Molecular Neuroscientist
This year is the 146th anniversary of publication of Darwin's seminal book, "On The Origin Of Species." In this joint program, the Baltimore Ethical Society and the Baltimore Secular Humanists will meet together to focus attention on the mission of Darwin Day, which is to promote the public education of science, and encourage the celebration of science and humanity throughout the global community. Mr. Hileman will discuss Darwin's impact on traditional beliefs and his contribution to the development of Humanism itself. Ms. Miller will discuss how teachers continue to be confronted with the politics of teaching Darwin's theory of evolution.
