[BES Friends] upcoming events

REMINDER:  the BES "regular" platform season has ended.  We'll be starting our informal summer Sunday programs on June 12, and you'll be receiving a summer newsletter and e-notice soon.  In the meantime, here's what's happening the next 2 weekends so that we can all get our requisite ethical "fix" --

May 28-30:
The American Ethical Union Assembly will be held right in our own backyard at the Days Hotel, 2200 Centreville Road, Herndon, VA (near Dulles Airport), hosted by the Northern Virginia Ethical Society (NOVES).  Everyone is invited to attend the platform on Sunday morning May 29 at 11am featuring NOVES Leader Jone Lewis and a certification ceremony for new Leader Randy Best (both of whom have spoken at BES).  In addition, you can also still register for all or a portion of the assembly, featuring a variety of great workshops, celebrations, presentation of the Elliott-Black Award, etc.  Check out the info at http://www.aeu.org/assembly2005index.htm for program details and fees.

DIRECTIONS:  The conference site is about a one hour drive from Baltimore.  Just get to the DC Beltway (I-495) and head west past Rockville and into Virginia to exit 45A, Hwy. 267 (Dulles Toll Road).  Take exit 10, Hwy. 657, Centreville Road North and the hotel is on your left.


June 5:
Picnic in the Park, Sparks Bank Nature Center, noon to 4:00 p.m.  Bring a dish to share and a lawn chair.  There will be some outdoor games such as lawn bowling, horse shoes, badminton, and for the little ones, ring toss, big balls, and bubbles.  There is a hiking trail for those who want to ramble.  Drinks, cups, plates, and utensils will be provided.
 
DIRECTIONS: Take I-83 north to exit 24 (Belfast Road).  Turn right on to Belfast Road, and go to the end (York Road).  Turn right.  Take the second left onto Sparks Road.  The parking lot is just past the one lane bridge on the right.  Noon to 4:00 p.m.
