Elliott recently returned from Peru, where she met Barry Drew (see
below) - who lives about a mile and a half from her. It's a Baltimore
thing. Karen's work has been published in Poets Ink and Manorborn, and
once upon a time she did technical and food writing professionally. She
gives poetry workshops for children from Pre-K through grade 6 and
works as an Information Systems consultant to pay the bills for
herself, her son who is at Cal Berkeley, five cats, and one snake.

Musician Barry Drew is a 25 year resident of
Northeast Baltimore, and a guitarist, singer, and massage therapist,
Barry has always conveyed his love and passion for music and words
through the heart-felt expression of his performance. Barry plays and
sings acoustic songs from the periods of the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s,
which he feels have much meaning to this day. During the ‘80s and ‘90s,
Barry played the Baltimore and Annapolis circuit in places like the
Annapolis Hilton, Kent Moore Harbor, The Wine Cellar at Painters Mill
and spots all around Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Barry took time off to
be with his wife and raise a family, but now he is ready to get back in
front of the audience and once again share his passion with others.

Sun Aug 3, 10:30 am - noon Movable Treats Please
continue to support this project, which gets excellent reviews from the
folks at Moveable Feast who prepare and deliver meals to homebound AIDS
and cancer patients and their families in the greater Baltimore area.
Once again, here are our guidelines: 1) Bring your desserts with you to
our meeting and place them on the table in the corner of our meeting
room. 2) If possible, use sandwich bags to wrap cupcakes, brownies,
cake slices, and sweet breads in single servings and label what they
are (in general, not a list of ingredients). 3) Mark your desserts if
they include nuts or peanuts. 4) Avoid desserts that contain alcohol
and desserts with thick icings.
